James Earl Jones Theatre Seating Chart

When purchasing tickets for a Broadway show at the James Earl Jones Theatre, you can select which section you would like to sit in. The theater has several options to choose from. Here are your choices.

Orchestra

If you want to make sure you’re as close to the stage as you can get, the orchestra section is the place to be. More specifically, you should look into buying tickets for the middle of the orchestra section since it offers the best sight lines.

Mezzanine

While the mezzanine section isn’t quite as close to the stage as the orchestra section, it’s elevated to deliver a better vantage point. However, portions of the balcony section above may hang over parts of the mezzanine and alter your experience.

Balcony

The balcony section offers an even more elevated view of the stage and feels a little further away than the mezzanine section. If you decide to sit in this section, buy tickets for one of the first few rows.

Boxes

If you’d rather have more privacy than you’d get in other sections, think about purchasing tickets for one of the boxes on the left or right sides in the mezzanine or balcony sections.

Accessible and ADA-Compliant Seating

Despite its age, the James Earl Jones Theatre is equipped with an elevator that allows those with mobility issues to access any of its three floors. There are accessible and ADA-compliant seating options in the orchestra, mezzanine, and balcony sections.

The orchestra section is the most accessible of the three sections, as it doesn’t have any steps to traverse. Meanwhile, the mezzanine and balcony sections have two steps for every row, making it challenging for those in wheelchairs to get to their seats.

However, there are wheelchair-accessible seats in each section, along with companion seats. There are also wheelchair-accessible restrooms on each of the theater’s three floors.

The theater’s Shubert Audience Services kiosk can also provide other resources for those with vision and hearing issues. These include:

» Handheld audio description or captioning devices

» Infrared assistive listening devices

» Downloadable audio description or captioning for personal cell phones

You can get your hands on these devices free of charge while attending a show.
